10 Easy Pieces

6 Envelopes, 10 Patterns Welcome to the 10 Easy Pieces Collection. This past fall while looking through my racks of random sample garments here in the studio, I decided it was time to put some outfits together. Once I got started mixing and matching it was so fun to realize the potential outfits these clothes could make! I work on sample garments to test my patterns all the time, and don't always notice exactly what I have collected. Our collection consists of earth tones, and black and gray with splashes of red and orange. The fabrics featured here are from previous collections at Christine Jonson Patterns and are no longer available. Try digging into that great fabric stash and use what you have. Six pattern envelopes contain all of the great looks you see here. With some very simple changes to these existing patterns, you can create multiple variations utilizing the same great fit and style. #427 Double Collar Princess Jacket works at many lengths, as does the #122 Easy Coat. The #226 Travel Trio Three: Raglan Tee and Shirred Turtleneck are great pieces to add under layers or to showcase alone. The Drape Front Jacket from #1204 Travel Trio One works as an outer layer or alone and adds an interesting A-symmetrical hem line to the wardrobe. Pattern #1219 Bell Sleeve Wrap & A-line Skirt are featured in the collection. The wrap is altered as a lined vest with alternative closures and the flirty A-line skirt pattern is paired with other pattern tops. Throw in the Center Seam Pant, also from #1204 Travel Trio One, in a couple of different colors. For a when you crave a little structure in your life use the woven pant patterns (trouser leg and wide leg) in pattern #1010 Key-hole Top & Pants for Wovens. Presto! An excellent wardrobe collection! While our collection featured a lot of earth tones, yours doesn’t have to. Pick the color story that tells YOUR story. Eliminate the earth tones and stick with black, gray and white or black and gray with a vibrant color of your choosing. Make olive green and khaki your staple colors adding accents that work with them. Where you live, skin tone and the season will undoubtedly play a part these decisions. We really enjoyed this whole process. Everything from choosing the patterns that made up the 10 Easy Pieces Collection, the fabrics that would be used and finally the styling were all pleasing creative experiences. Thanks to our great model Kay, we were able to bring life to each look. Now go have some fun of your own and, as always, your pictures in or of Christine Jonson fashions are welcome to be featured on the website. By Christine Jonson, Pattern Designer |
