Unlike ease and length alterations, neckline fitting problems often occur mid-construction, so they're difficult to anticipate. Follow these steps to transform a garment with a problem neckline into a new favorite.

Flattering length, proportion and shape are determined by the horizontal, vertical and curved seamlines of a garment. Many times an outfit just needs simple fitting tweaks to become a favorite, but it's often too late in the sewing process to make these adjustments. Pin-fitting saves time and frustration by helping you determine horizontal proportion lines and vertical shaping lines.

When a sleeve fits well the arm is free to move, twist and bend at the elbow and shoulder.
