Banded Waist Variation for Wide Leg Pant Banded waist variation for the Wide Leg Pant pattern is easy
- Measure 4 ¾" from the top of the pattern following the curve of the waist for the new cutting line.
- Measure the length of this new line.
 - Subtract 2 seam allowances (1 ¼") from that measurement and multiply the result by 2. This gives a true measurement (T) of the top of the pant when it's constructed.
- The width of the band is 12". The length of the band (cut on the crosswise grain) is equal to the length of the top of the pant (T) minus 5 ¾".
- Serge the two inner leg seams and then the crotch seam on the pants. Serge the 12" sides of the band together to form a tube. Fold the tube in half with the seam on the inside.
- Quarter the band (now 6" wide), quarter the pants and serge the band onto the top of the pants with the band seam at the center back of the pants.
